Theatre Review: ‘Five Little Monkeys’ at Adventure Theatre MTC

Five Little Monkeys, a stage adaptation of the children’s book series by Eileen Christelow, is now playing at the Adventure Theatre MTC. This stage version (adapted by Ernie Nolan) is directed by Karin Abromaitis, and stars Valerie Leonard, a Helen Hayes Award Nominee. Continue reading

The Wings of Ikarus Jackson, a world premiere commissioned by the Kennedy Center, is beautifully produced, engaging, and – there’s no way around it – uplifting. Parallels to the Greek myth of Icarus are slim – no one has to fashion wings to escape imprisonment on an island, and no one crashes. Leer! Leer! Leer es aprender! Leer! Leer! Leer is disfrutar! A key message delivered to children of all ages at the Teatro de la Luna’s Festival de Teatro para Niños. The English translation means “To read is to learn. To read is to enjoy. The Teatro de la Luna company stressed this over and over in a fun rhyming rap song for the children during the down time in between shows. Darius the Dragon and Rap-Punzel at Encore Stage & Studio

Encore Stage & Studio’s motto is ‘theatre by kids, for kids of all ages’ and they got it right. Their production of Darius the Dragon and Rap-Punzel delighted a large crowd of kids and kids and their parents at the Artisphere’s Spectrum Theatre.
