SHE has been the shortest performance I have seen so far at the Fringe…but it felt like the longest. While this quartet of talented women can dance, and indeed move together beautifully, they use the same style of dance throughout, and their moves become repetitive and redundant. There were costume changes, but I felt that instead of dividing separate dance routines, they were just continually interrupting one long…loooooong dance routine.
You will enjoy this production if you are particularly fond of dance, but you will not enjoy the excruciatingly long transitions and the constant fumbling of an obviously unprepared crew. Technical issues plagued my performance. There was a particular instance when the music would not start and the audience watched on as a dancer mouthed awkwardly from the side of the stage to a crewmember, asking if she should proceed or wait. This show has the potential to be very entertaining, but it needs more variety, and the technical problems need to be fixed.
Running time: 40 minutes.
