Olney Theatre Center announced today that Martin Platt is no longer serving as the Artistic Director of the theatre. According to a statement given by the theatre, “Olney Theatre Center has been pleased to have Mr. Platt serve as Artistic Director. Mr. Platt has accomplished much in his short tenure with our Theatre and we wish him well in his new endeavors.”

Mr. Platt joined as Artistic Director of Olney Theatre Center in June of 2012. During that time he programmed the 2013 season which includes, Spring Awakening, Neville’s Island, A Comedy in Thick Fog, The Submission, Angel Street (‘Gaslight’),Carnival, Tartuffe, or The Hypocrite, and Once Upon a Mattress.
Alan Wade, a member of the Board of Directors of Olney Theatre Center, will be serving as the interim Artistic Director. Mr. Wade is a long time professional actor and director appearing most recently on the Olney Stage in Farragut North and Witness for the Prosecution. He also recently directed a production of John Steinbecks Of Mice and Men at Olney as well.
An Artistic Director search will begin immediately and Olney Theatre Center plans to fill this position by early 2013.
