Fells Point Corner Theatre and The Collaborative Theatre have announced on their websites and social media that it has cancelled their production of “A Christmas Carol” due to a “complex and troubling set of circumstances.”
Here is the full statement:
Dear Members and Patrons of the Baltimore Theatre Community:
Fells Point Corner Theatre and The Collaborative Theatre must announce at this time that A Christmas Carol, scheduled to open this Friday, December 8th, and run until Sunday, December 31st, has been cancelled.
A complex and troubling set of circumstances has unfolded and the accumulation of new information has presented us with no option but to cancel in this late stage. All ticket holders will be contacted directly regarding a refund.
Both FPCT and TCT would like to thank the hard-working cast & crew for all of their time and efforts during the rehearsal process. Additionally, we feel it is important to express our gratitude to the Baltimore Theatre Community for holding not only our companies, but everyone, to a higher standard of accountability and responsibility, as we all strive, together, to foster a safer and more inclusive community.
Moving forward, both companies will be reevaluating their policies and codes of conduct to better serve both our artists and our patrons.
We invite the community to reach out to us with any questions, comments, or concerns at contactus [at] fpct.org.
