Inspired by her work in chaplaincy and the Aleph Alliance for Jewish Renewal Movement, Lisa Levine’s album “Bridge to Peace” is accessible and enriching.
The 12-track album is a tapestry of prayer, hope, and renewal, woven together to create a bridge to peace in an often turbulent world.
The first track, “Pray for Peace” sets the tranquil tone for the entire album with its universal message of praying for lasting peace. Lisa Levine asks you to “open your heart to shalom” in this song that will inspire you to sing-along. Leah Zeger’s soothing violin along with the beautiful back-up vocals help to make “Pray for Peace” a spiritually and emotionally energizing way to begin the album.
…accessible and enriching…spiritually and emotionally energizing…
“Bring Healing Down” pays tribute to the style of the African American spiritual. Reminiscent of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s, “Bring Healing Down” and its message of hope for freedom and justice for all, including the homeless, rings out with passion and sincerity. The second half of the song reaches new and exciting heights when Geoff Nudell plays the saxophone and the gospel choir with Lamont Dozier, Jr., soloist sing out the word “hallelujah.”
“You are Holy” has a straightforward and simple contemporary sound, making it accessible to listeners from diverse backgrounds. Vocalist Dana Bederson lends her talents to the song, adding her youthful and joyous sound.

The Divine Feminine, referred to as “Shechinah” in Judaism is highlighted in the inspirational song “Beneath The Wings of Shechinah” which reminds us that “we are blessed by those who passed our way.” Lisa Levine’s exuberant singing voice, as well as her song composition for “Beneath The Wings of Shechinah” is first-rate.
Other songs on the album include “Bim Bam,” “Esau Enai,” “Oseh Shalom,” “Bridge to Peace,” “Niggun-Ki Anu Amecha,” “Lo Milchama,” “Shalom Rav,” and “May The Angels.”
Sam Glaser’s lively musical arrangements, along with the talented musicians, paired nicely with Lisa Levine’s enriching original songs. After listening to Lisa Levine’s album “Bride to Peace” it is clear that she is a master of many musical styles and genres, helping to bring peace into our lives, world, and the Jewish community through her music.
