The Shades of Blue Orchestra delivers the best of the big band sound. The band formed in 1976 by Linthicum resident Gary Alker who still manages the band and plays the trumpet in the five-member trumpet section with his brother Bill. The Shades of Blue Orchestra performs a variety of musical styles. On December 1st, however, they will entertain attendees with sounds of the season in addition to favorite songs for individuals of all ages.
The Shades of Blue Orchestra, based in Linthicum, is conducted by Sgt. Michael Walker, a Retention and Training Technician with the Maryland Army National Guard, who also serves in the Maryland National Guard as a trombonist. He previously served in the U.S. Navy Music program. Vocalist Tony Liberto will bring back memories of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, and many other popular crooners. He is joined on stage by his daughters who harmonize beautifully in the tradition of the Andrews Sisters.
The Maryland Concert Series is supported by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the Maryland State Arts Council. Invite you friends and neighbors to join us for songs of the season in the North County High School 880 seat auditorium which is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and handicapped accessible. All of our performances are family friendly.
