Composer and vocalist Be Steadwell returns to Mount Rainier, MD for a reprise of A Letter to My Ex – The Musical, a product of her February 2019 NextLOOK artist residency made possible by The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland and Joe’s Movement Emporium. Steadwell and her cast of queer women of color thread stories of love, loss, and intimacy though beautiful LGBTQ-affirming pop songs.

ABOUT ON STAGE AT JOE’S
Google “When Hate Hits Home” and you’ll find countless stories of everyday people all over the world experiencing racism, homophobia, sexism and other forms of bigotry. Most of us can easily recall our own stories of either being the victim or witness to such acts. Whether through a tweet or verbal insult hurled from a passing car, many of us have been given to the message to “go back” when we’re in a place we call home. The underlying mission of On Stage at Joe’s is to give audiences a deepened understanding of the history of our artists, the role they play in anchoring culture for our community, and the power of live performance experiences
Performances take place in the Meyer Performance Theater Thursday, September 19 – Sunday, September 22 at 8 pm and 4 pm at 3309 Bunker Hill Road, Mount Rainier, MD. Tickets can be purchased for $25 per person in advance online at www.joesmovement.org.
