Given the extraordinary events of the recent weeks, Bowie Community Theatre’s Board of Directors met via conference call and decided unanimously, out of concern for our actors, volunteers, theater staff, and audience members due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, that we must postpone all performances of Fences that were scheduled for March and then April, 2020. Rest assured that the Board is committed to including this current production of Fences in Bowie Community Theatre’s upcoming 2020-21 season.
Exact dates for Bowie Community Theatre’s next season are still fluid. Work on the season has been temporarily suspended as we continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC regarding public assembly. Meanwhile, plans are already in motion to carefully disassemble and store the set, props and costumes until we can get the show re-staged.
We know this postponement is extremely painful for everyone concerned. Everyone involved put in so much work and sacrifice, and over 1,000 tickets were already sold. The show, even for early in tech week, was already amazing. Please rest assured that Bowie Community Theatre is absolutely committed to getting Fences back on stage, with the current production and cast.
We promise to stay in close touch with all of you as we work through this crisis together. Thank you for your understanding.
