Lynne Menefee, new publisher of MD Theatre Guide.
On February 1, Mark Beachy, publisher and founder of MD Theatre Guide, hands over the reins to Lynne Menefee, a longtime writer, review assignment scheduler, and assistant editor for the guide. She is thrilled and honored to be taking over as publisher of the MTDG. Lynne looks forward to continuing and expanding its legacy of supporting theater and performing arts locally — and beyond. MD Theatre Guide will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this June.
With its stable of great reviewers, MDTG has continued to cover not only local productions, but those around the world thanks to streaming and the many innovative ways theaters have adapted during these challenging times. Like all of us, Lynne cannot wait until we can sit together in a theater or concert hall and enjoy live performance again.
Lynne Menefee started reviewing for MD Theatre Guide in 2013 and also did reviews and interviews for the publication of sister site, NY Theatre Guide. Lynne is a professional graphic designer and artist. After earning her degree from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), she worked at the Museum of Man and volunteered at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre. In Los Angeles, she worked for CBS in Studio City.
Lynne returned to Baltimore and started her own freelance graphic design business with clients that include arts organizations, musicians, nonprofits, and educational institutions (behance.net/menefeecreative). She has also designed (and assisted with writing and editing) several books about local history. She is a member of the Memorial Players, the theater outreach of Memorial Episcopal Church in Bolton Hill, that produces free musical productions for, and with, the community.
