Kensington, MD – The Ruby Griffith Awards committee is thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s prestigious award. The Ruby Griffith Award recognizes excellence in community theatre in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This year’s winners were chosen for their outstanding contributions to the performing arts community in the region.
The winners of the All Round Production Excellence award are Bowie Community Theatre for their production of “Fences” and 2nd Star Productions for their production of “Crowns.” Both productions displayed exceptional production quality, including strong performances, direction, and technical elements.
Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre was awarded the Best Achievement in a Musical award for their production of “Bright Star.” The production showcased exceptional musical direction, choreography, and vocal performances.
The Colonial Players of Annapolis received the Best Achievement in a non-Musical award for their production of “Crimes of the Heart.” The production featured outstanding acting performances and direction, bringing the play to life with heart and authenticity.
Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church was named the First Runner-Up in a Musical for their production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” The production displayed exceptional musical performances and direction, as well as a powerful message.
Providence Players of Fairfax was named the First Runner-Up in a non-Musical category for their production of “NOVEMBER.” The production showcased excellent acting performances and direction, creating a compelling and thought-provoking experience for the audience.
Rockville Musical Theatre was named the Second Runner-Up in a Musical for their production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” The production featured high-energy performances, impressive choreography, and catchy songs.
Rockville Little Theatre was named the Second Runner-Up in a non-Musical category for their production of “Pride@Prejudice.” The production showcased exceptional acting performances and direction, bringing the classic novel to life with a modern twist.
Damascus Theatre Company was named the Third Runner-Up in a Musical for their production of “Head Over Heels.” The production displayed exceptional choreography and vocal performances, creating a fun and energetic atmosphere for the audience.
Silver Spring Stage was named the Third Runner-Up in a non-Musical category for their production of “Native Gardens.” The production showcased excellent acting performances and direction, highlighting important themes of culture and community.
