ABOUT MD THEATRE GUIDE
The Maryland Theatre Guide is an online, performing arts news magazine, covering theatre, music, and dance in the Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia areas – and beyond.
The MD/DC/NVA theatre community has embraced the online magazine, sharing our reviews on social media and creating a buzz for excited theatre goers.
MD Theatre Guide was created in 2010 by founder and publisher emeritus, Mark Beachy. On June 1, 2011, the MD Theatre Guide was officially incorporated as an LLC, launching as a free online magazine for the performing arts community and its audiences. The magazine reaches an average of 5,000 to 13,000 page views per day.
Our Mission: MD Theatre Guide’s mission is to provide reviews and articles that are fair and honest, thorough, and family friendly.
Through the site, readers gain free access to the following information and special features:
Top Five Shows of the Week: A weekly column highlighting the top five must-see shows for the week.
“What’s Playing” Events Calendar: A listing of the performing arts shows throughout the month and year.
What’s Playing: Highlights productions/events that are coming soon or currently playing.
Theatre Guide: An in-depth theatre guide section that lists each theatre according to the area and provides direct access with a link to their website.
“A Quick 5”: Interviews with performing artists and creatives.
Social Media: Reviews, stories, and interviews are posted on our FB page and Bluesky.
Who We Are: A volunteer team of dedicated writers who seek to bring attention to the performing arts across MD, DC, Northern VA — and beyond. A diverse and inclusive group, backgrounds include experience in the performing arts, writing, editing, design and more, as well as a love and appreciation of live theatre, music, and dance.
