Auditions for "A Christmas Carol; The Musical" in Bowie, MD

    Come out and audition for 2nd Star’s upcoming production of A Christmas Carol: the Musical!

    A Christmas Carol is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story. Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical), breathe fantastic new life into this classic tale of ghosts, spirits, and the spirit of Christmas.

    Auditions are Sunday, August 11th and Wednesday August 14th at 7 pm at the Bowie Playhouse (16500 White Marsh Park Drive, Bowie, MD 20715). Doors open at 6:40 pm, please arrive by 7 pm if at all possible. Callbacks will be Thursday, August 15th at 7 pm (by invitation only.)

    Those who wish to audition may attend either the Sunday or Wednesday dates. Please keep Thursday night clear in case you are called back. If you are needed for callbacks, you will be notified by phone and/or email by Thursday at 10 a.m.

    Regular rehearsals will be held on Tuesday nights (7-10 PM), Thursday nights (7-10 PM), and Saturdays (11 AM – 3 PM). Not all actors will be required for all regular rehearsals. Technical rehearsals run most weeknights and weekend days from November 4 – 14.

    Performances are November 15th through December 14th, Fridays through Sundays, at the Bowie Playhouse in Bowie, MD (16500 Whitemarsh Park Dr, Bowie, MD). Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 PM, and Sundays are at 3 PM. Our closing performance on Saturday, December 14th is a 3 PM matinee.

    -If you have one, please bring a theatrical resume and a headshot (professional quality not necessary) or a clear recent face picture for the production team.
    -Please bring a written list of any and all possible conflicts that you have or may have between August 20th and December 14th.
    -Prepare a vocal piece, 16-32 bars in length, that shows your vocal range and provide sheet music in the correct key. Please do not use selections from this show. An accompanist will be provided.
    -Please come prepared to learn a short dance combination with clothes and shoes you can comfortably and safely move in.
    -Actors may be placed into groups of 2 or more and asked to do a cold reading from the script.
