Red Tail Entertainment, producers of Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live! now playing at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC. seeks replacement actors and puppeteers for the current production Dinosaur Zoo Live! and future tours.
We have multiple roles available for people with a commitment to their own physical fitness and who work as physical performers such as dancers, acrobats, full body puppets etc.
In addition to puppeteers, we are seeking a performer for one speaking role that requires an actor comfortable with direct address, primarily to children. Actor must have improv or similar experience/training, a sense of humor and an ability to deliver a believable Australian dialect. This role is not gender specific.
Ideal candidates are people who can:
demonstrate the ability to work within a collaborative team and who have previous and extensive experience touring
are motivated by work with children a love of science and history who believe in the transformative power of innovative and original theater
who aren’t driven by ego and are comfortable expressing themselves in and through full body puppets that obscure the identity of the puppeteer completely
All audition materials for puppeteers and actors will be provided at the audition. Please arrive in clothes that allow you to move freely and be prepared to spend an hour or more at the audition.
Time/Date: Auditions are Tues May 28 from 4-8pm. Performers will be seen on a first come, first seen basis and must arrive by 6pm to be considered. Please arrive early to ensure your participation.
Location: Auditions will be held at the Smithsonian National Zoo’s Visitor Center Theater. The theater is the first building on the left as you enter the zoo from the Connecticut Avenue pedestrian entrance. Zoo parking lots close at 6pm and we recommend that all candidates utilize public transportation if possible.
