I See You stars One Body Works – an ensemble of sweaty, athletic, and young performers who satirically examine our relationship with technology. In this production there are several vignettes socked with humor and powerful emotions. Most important, the production requires teamwork, and these seven energy-filled five men and two women know all about teamwork – since they live on Hickory Nut Gap Farm, an organic farm located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where they rehearsed the show.
There are two red-nosed clowns stuck in a mesh of wires, electrical chords and a toy guitar trying to untangle themselves, an electrifying light show that delivers some interesting sounds, a rugby-type game that produces a mass of bodies turning and twisting and rocking with lots of leap-frogging, and a look at how cell phones have changed the way we communicate and how they have hindered our social skills.
Kudos to the hard-working cast: Victoria Campbell, Ben and Sam Mandelbaum, Drew Madland, Nathaniel Mendez, Nathan Vargo, and Shannon Mackenzie.
Things are heating up in The Apothecary with One Body Works. There’s lots to see and examine, so don’t miss I See You. As they say on the farm, “It’s an udder delight!”
Running time: 60 minutes.
