Don’t miss this show! It is the best show I have seen so far at The Capital Fringe Festival. Although it runs for over two hours, I enjoyed every second of it.
Tom Powers (John William Schiffbauer) is a young conservative Hollywood movie star who wishes to be seen as more than a pretty face. A television appearance on Jack Tatum’s (Nick DePinto) political talk show could allow him to do this, he thinks. His agent, Jane Forge (Marni Penning), disagrees and believes it could jeopardize his career.
The acting, the text and the general rhythm of the play were perfect. The four performers did a great job in giving true depth to their hard-headed – but soft-hearted characters.
There were scenes where characters faced each other where they were speaking and this, unfortunately, prevented me and the audiences from fully seeing the performers’ facial expressions and reactions. I hope the director will consider changes the ‘blocking’ for these scenes.
Will Tom strong-held convictions be enough to handle the fierce Democratic Congresswoman Madeline Bruce (Tonya Beckman Ross) in a heated debate? To get the answer, you’ll need to see this well-written and beautifully acted play. I strongly encourage you to do so!
